The food was very good and not too expensive. The atmosphere was that of a jolly country pub, as you'd expect. The food came quickly. Overall a nice experience.

The village of Dittisham (pronounced 'Ditsum') is a beautiful settlement just a couple of miles up river from Dartmouth. The Red Lion is one of two 'pubs' in the village but it's also the village store and post office. Serves excellent ale, notably Dartmoor's Legend, and beautifully cooked, pub grub. Each night has a couple of specials - tonight's was sea bass with gratin potatoes and a mediterranean vegetable mix and the pie of the day was steak and ale - both excellent.
Very convenient having post office, village store and pub under one roof. View from the terrace is lovely. Barman an absolute scream - have great fun every time I come here.
Seems clean, nice complimentary hot chocolate and coffees. Staff are very 'local' seem very friendly. Quite a local place. Good for one night. Not the most touristy place though. Decent meals, bearing in mind its a shop, postoffice, pub and a b&b. Goods night sleep though
